dc.description.abstractA series of pyrazol-5-one derivatives (2a-2ij were synthesized by the Knoevenagel condensation of 3-methyl-1-phenyl-1,4-dihydro-pyrazol-5-one with substituted aromatic/heterocyclic aldehydes. Pyrazol-5-ones were reduced by NaBH4 to pyrazol-5-ol derivatives (3a-3i) The structures of these compounds were confirmed by IR, ’H-NMR, nC-NMR and MS. Antimicrobial and antifungal activity of the synthesized compounds were evaluated. Of them, four pyrazot-5-ot compounds (3a, 3b, 3e, 3g) exhibited strong antimicrobial and antifungal activity.vi_VN
