Title: Changes in selected physiological parameters of hybrid fish F1(Pangasius krempfi x Pangsaianodon hypophthalmus) fry reared in different salinities
Authors: Le, Thi Thuy Linh
Abstract: The study evaluated the effects of different salinities on hematological parameters of hybrid fish F1 (Pangasius krempfi × Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) fry. The experiment was conducted using a completely randomized design with four salinity treatments 0‰, 6‰, 12‰, and 18‰, each with three replicates. The fish with stocking
density of 160 fish/tank was reared in a recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) for one month. Hematological samples were collected 1, 2, 3, and 4 weeks after salinity stabilization, with three fish sampled per tank at each sampling time. The results indicated that both red blood cell (RBC) and white blood cell (WBC) counts increased with increasing salinity and sampling time, particularly during the early stages of the experiment. White blood cell counts exhibited significant differences among treatments throughout the experimental period, with consistently higher values recorded at 18‰ compared to the other salinities. Hematocrit values decreased progressively with increasing salinity and showed statistically significant differences at the second and fourth
weeks. Hemoglobin concentration declined with increasing salinity during the first two weeks; however, it became relatively stable and showed no significant differences among treatments during the final two weeks. In contrast, mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH) exhibited only minor fluctuations and did not differ significantly among salinity, while MCHC showed statistically significant differences at the second and fourth week.

Title: Financial analysis of red tilapia (Oreochromis sp.) in cage cultured in the mekong delta
Authors: Lu, Lu Trieu Hao
Abstract: The study on Tilapia (Oreochromis SP.) cultured in cage system in the Mekong Delta was conducted from July to October 2025 to evaluate the technical and financial aspects of this farming model. Data were collected through interviews with 30 farming households in An Giang district and 30 households in Can Tho city. The results showed that each household operated an average of 4,0 ± 3.4 cages with an average volume of 290.2 ± 162.4 m³ per cage. Fingerlings had an average weight of 21.4 g per fish and were stocked at a density of 119.7 ± 15.1 fish/m³. After 189 days of culture, the fish reached an average weight of 588.2 g per fish, with a productivity of 48.0 ± 10.5 kg/m³ per crop. The survival rate was 67.8%, and the economic feed conversion ratio (eFCR) was 1.6. The total cost for one production cycle was 1,546.7 thousand VND per m³, resulting in a profit of 324.1 thousand VND per m³ and a profit ratio of 0.3 time. The main challenges of red tilapia cage culture included fish diseases, water pollution, and fluctuations in market prices.

Study on fish species composition in Cai Lon and Cai Be floodgates, An Giang province

Title: Study on fish species composition in Cai Lon and Cai Be floodgates, An Giang province
Authors: Nguyen, Dinh Duc Thinh
Abstract: Assessment of environmental water quality and study on fish species composition were conducted from July to September at 12 sites inside and outside Cai Lon and Cai Be floodgates. Fish species was collected directly from fishermen by different kinds of fishing gears. The results showed that the pH ranged 6.58 – 7.30 for Cai Lon floodgate and 6.47-6.97 for Cai Be floodgate. In September, the temperature reached peak at 31.5 inside Cai Lon floodgate and 32.4 inside Cai Be floodgate. For Cai Lon floodgate, dissolved oxygen ranged 3.6-5.2 mg/l, water velocity ranged 0.11-0.35 m/s, water depth ranged 4-5.2 m, water transparency ranged 29-53 cm. For Cai Be floodgate, dissovled oxygen ranged 3.02-4.10 mg/l, water velocity ranged 0.07-0.32 m/s, water depth ranged 3.4-4.4 m, water transparency ranged 25-47 cm. Salinity remained constant at 0‰ in most sampling sites except for site 9 outside Cai Lon floodgate (2-4‰) and site 12 outside Cai Be floodgate (1‰) in three sampling periods. A total of 57 fish species belonging to 37 families and 18 orders were collected from inside and outside of Cai Lon and Cai Be floodgates. The most abundant order was Cypriniformes and Perciformes with 11 species in each order (19%), followed by Siluriformes with 9 species (16%), Anabantiformes with 6 species (11%), Gobiiformes with 3 species (5%). Others only had 1-2 species in each order with 17 species in total (30%). Overall, 42 species were recorded outside Cai Lon floodgate and 26 species outside Cai Be floodgate, while 37 species were collected from inside Cai Lon floodgate and 25 species inside Cai Be floodgate.
