Single-pixel ensemble correlation algorithm for boundary measurement on axisymmetric boattail surface

Title: Single-pixel ensemble correlation algorithm for boundary measurement on axisymmetric boattail surface
Authors: Tran, The Hung
Abstract: Particle image velocimetry (PIV) measurement is an important technique in analyzing velocity fields. However, in traditional cross-correlation algorithm, the resolution of velocity fields is limited by the size of interrogation windows and the boundary layer was not captured well. In this study, single-pixel ensemble correlation algorithm was applied to analyze flow near the surface of an axisymmetric boattail model. The initial images data was obtained by experimental methods with the setup of PIV measurement.

Influence of the gas vent position on the initial movement of the bolt-carrier for the amphibious rifles when shooting under water

Title: Influence of the gas vent position on the initial movement of the bolt-carrier for the amphibious rifles when shooting under water
Authors: Nguyen, Van Hung
Abstract: This paper presents a mathematical model to study the effect of the gas vent position on the movement of the bolt-carrier for the amphibious rifles when shooting under water. This mathematical model was applied for the 5.56mm amphibious rifle for different gas vent positions. The result of this research indicates that under the impact of the initial water in the barrel bore and the gas cylinder, the bolt-carrier only moves when the distance between the position of the gas vent and the muzzle is not smaller 171mm.

Static bending analysis of symmetrical three-layer FGM beam with shear connectors under static load

Title: Static bending analysis of symmetrical three-layer FGM beam with shear connectors under static load
Authors: Phung, Van Minh; Ta, Duc Tam; Tran, Van Ke
Abstract: In this paper, the mechanical behavior of symmetric FGM sandwich beams where each component layer is made from different funtionally graded materials and conected to one another by shear connectors is carried out. The finite element formulations are constructed based on the first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) of Timoshenko for beam and finite element method. The calculation program is coded in the MATLAB environment and compared the results with particular cases. Effects of some geometrical and material properties such as the height-to-length ratio, boundary conditions, shear coefficient of connectors, etc. on the mechanical response of the structure are investigated.

Static analysis of FGM box using finite element method

Title: Static analysis of FGM box using finite element method
Authors: Tran, Trung Thanh; Tran, The Van; Ta, Duc Tam; Nguyen, Thi Giang
Abstract: This paper presents the numerical result for the static bending analysis of functionally graded material (FGM) box by using the finite element method (FEM). The authors code the calculation program in MATLAB software and checked the established program by comparing it with other published works. In addition, the effects of some geometrical and material parameters on the static bending analysis of FGM boxes are investigated in detail.
