dc.description.abstract"The study is aimed to identify and evaluate the literary devices used in Antoine de Saint-Exupéry‟s book, The Little Prince, and assess their English-Vietnamese translations using Newmark‟s translation methods. The qualitative research involves 97 extracts from the English and Vietnamese translations of the book, using textual analysis and observation tables. The study revealed that the author extensively utilized literary devices such as simile, metaphor, personification, hyperbole, imagery, foreshadowing, understatement, synecdoche, metonymy, anaphora, epistrophe, and symploce, which helped create a harmonious picture between the words described, and the thematic part of the novella. Also, the study found that five out of eight of Newmark‟s translation methods were used to translate the book‟s literary devices: literal, faithful, semantic, idiomatic, and communicative. The most frequent translation method was the semantic translation method, indicating the translator‟s goal to make the content and language of the translated text acceptable and understandable for the target language readers. The analysis contributes to existing knowledge in literary device analysis and promotes the novella The Little Prince and Newmark‟s translation methods by making it available for further scrutiny. In addition, researchers are encouraged to conduct additional study focusing on other aspects of the selected novella as well as literary devices of different works and other introduced translation methods that were not the focus of this study. Keywords: literary devices, The Little Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, translation methods, Peter Newmark"vi_VN
