dc.description.abstract"This study aimed to understand what student read and how it affects their success at Can Tho University in Vietnam. Understanding what you read is crucial for academic success, and discovering why students read is vital for teachers. The purpose of this study is to determine students' motivation for engaging in reading comprehension and the factors influencing this motivation, to better understand individual differences among students. In this study, a questionnaire served as the main research tool, with 90 students from different courses participating in the survey. The findings suggest that investigating motivation in reading comprehension can reveal strategies to enhance students' motivation levels, leading to improved reading comprehension skills and promoting active learning in schools. Furthermore, research on motivation can inform the development of more effective teaching strategies and appropriate educational interventions to boost motivation and subsequently student performance. Research on reading motivation and reading engagement can improve students' reading achievement. The SPSS tool was utilized to compare responses, evaluating and contrasting student motivations for engaging in reading comprehension and other factors that influence students' reading comprehension abilities. The research findings can serve as valuable learning materials for both teachers and students, contributing to the advancement of research in reading comprehension and related fields.
