Abstract: An alternative technique is presented for the corrosion protection of the A36 structural steel (A3655) in acid medium (H₂SO₄) using silica obtained from canary seed nusk (CSH). The silica was obtained in a solid amorphous state with a particle size of 10-22 nm. The anticorrosive properties of nanosilica (NS) were studied using potentiodynamic polarization (PDP), linear polarization resistance (LPR), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), Before carrying out the corrosion tests, the A36SS was subjected to a treatment with NaOH selution without and with the presence of NS. The A3555 treated with NS presented the lowest current density values and the noblest corrosion potential values, indicating that the corrosion rate decreased. The surface morphological study of the tested systems. using SEM/EDS showed that the NS-treated A36SS had a more efficient physical barrier against corrosive species.
