In recent years, the rapid growth of technology and the increasing demand for entertainment have led to the development of various video games, particularly in the roguelike genre. This thesis focuses on the design and development of a 2D roguelike game titled Berserk, built using the Unity engine. The game incorporates key elements of the roguelike genre such as permadeath, random level generation, and a diverse array of enemies and items. The project aims to create an engaging, replayable experience for players by implementing procedurally generated levels, a variety of upgradeable weapons, and dynamic combat mechanics. Throughout the development process, challenges related to game design, programming, and balancing enemy spawn rates were addressed. The study also explores the use of tools like Unity, Aseprite, and Creature Mixer for game asset creation and animation. The outcome of this project contributes to the understanding of game development techniques in the roguelike genre, emphasizing simplicity, accessibility, and player engagement. The game was tested to assess its performance, user experience, and overall effectiveness in delivering a captivating gaming experience.vi_VN
