In urban areas, the urban road network is considered the framework and backbone of the city, shaping its morphology, structure, and overall appearance. The management of urban road networks towards sustainable urban transport development is currently a major issue of global concern. This issue has received not only special attention from countries around the world but is also being actively studied by urban planners and policymakers in Vietnam. who are exploring feasible methods and approaches. This is a field that requires research adapted to the specific characteristics of each city, especially Thai Nguyen City, which plays a central role in various aspects for both Thai Nguyen Province and the midland and northern mountainous region of Vietnam. This paper references previous studies, current data, and the general planning of Thai Nguyen City up to 2035 to propose an area-based management solution for the urban road network in Thai Nguyen City, aimed at sustainable urban transport development.vi_VN
