DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF AN ONLINE SPORTS FIELD MANAGEMENT AND BOOKING SYSTEM

Abstract

With the rapid development of sports activities and the ongoing trend of digital transformation, traditional methods of booking and managing sports fields are becoming increasingly inefficient. Users now require an online sports field booking system that is smart, convenient, provides complete information, and allows quick and easy reservations. Therefore, the development of a webbased platform to optimize booking operations and sports field management is both necessary and highly practical. Currently, several challenges still exist in conventional sports field booking and management systems, including time-consuming manual scheduling, inefficient and inflexible management processes, and difficulties in handling different types of bookings such as fixed and one-time reservations. In addition, the inability to predict booking demand may lead to either overbooking or underutilization of sports fields. Users are also often unable to view real-time schedule availability, while there is an increasing need for features that support teammate matching and community interaction. To address these issues, the proposed system is developed using Java Spring Boot, MySQL, ReactJS, and RESTful APIs for the web platform. In addition, the system integrates Machine Learning (Python, Gradient Boosting) and Gemini API to recommend course bookings and optimize scheduling decisions. The system also supports online payment integration, location-based field search, team matching, and is designed to be expandable with additional features such as a sports equipment shop and an AI-powered chatbot for user assistance. Furthermore, the system is designed with future scalability in mind, allowing possible expansion to include additional services such as a sports equipment shop and intelligent support systems.
