The Thai are an ethnic group that has lived in the Northwest of Vietnam for a long time. They live mostly in remote areas near mountains and rivers. Among the traditional cultural values of the Thai, stilt houses are one of their most typical objects rich in cultural values. During Vietnam's process of industrialization and modemization, some mountain villages of the Thai have had to be moved to other locations, and the movement leads to inevitable changes in the lives of the people which can be recognized by looking at their houses, their daily activities, and their related traditions and customs.vi_VN
