Abstract: | Tây Nguyên (the Central Highlands) is a concentrated residential region on the east side of the Trường Sơn mountains, home to more than 20 ethnic groups from two main linguistic groups: the Malayo-Polynesian (a subgroup of the Austronesian language family) and the Mon-Khmer (a subgroup of the Austroasiatic family). Despite similar polytheistic faiths and similar production modes, the traditional cultures of the diverse ethnic minorities in Tây Nguyên retain their uniqueness. The common cultural features across the groups are always reflected in the types of handicrafts made. |
