Sesquiterpenoids from the rhizomes of Curcuma aeruginosa

Abstract

Six sesquiterpenoids were isolated from a methanol extract of Curcuma aeruginosa rhizomes by using various chromatographic separations. Their structures were elucidated as pyrocurzerenone (1), dehydrochromolaenin (2), curzeone (3), linderazulene (4), curzerenone (5), and 8,12-epoxy-l(10),4(15),7,ll-germacratetraen-6-one (6) by extensive NMR spectroscopic analysis as well as comparison with the reported data. This is the first report of isolation of compounds 1, 2,4, and 6 from C. aeruginosa.
