In the context of educational innovation to meet the human resource requirements for international integration and the knowledge economy, the training of teachers - the key human resource for education, is of great significance. This article examines international experience on teacher education, focusing on the experience of some countries with advanced education in Europe, the USA, East Asia and some other countries. Teacher education experience is considered in terms of training philosophy and objectives, training levels for teachers, training models, training contents and methods, teacher training institutions, continuing professional development for teachers, enrollment for teacher candidates, and teacher training management. Aspects of international experience in teacher education are contrasted with reality in Vietnam. On the basis of the contrastive comparison, the article proposes some essential adjustments to renovate teacher training to meet the requirements of education reform in Vietnam today.vi_VN
