Abstract: This study was conducted to determine the effects of supplemental heat-kill Lactobacillus plantarum strain L-137 (HK L-137) on growth performance and immune response in fingerling stage of striped catfish, Pangasianodon hypophthalmus. The HK L-137 contains 20% heat-killed Lactobacillus plantarum strain L-137 (HK L-137) and 80% dextrin in dried-weight basis. This experiment was conducted in Dong Thap province. The experimental period is 2 months. The experiment design was completely randomized with three feed treatments, three times replicated with difference HK-L137 concentrations 1) 0mg of HK L-137 kg-1, 2) 20mg of HK L-137 kg-1, 3) 20mg of HK L-137 kg-1. There was decreasing 10mg of HK L-1370 at the beginning of second month in treatment 2. The results showed that the final weight and length of striped catfish at 1 and 2 month trial periods feed containing 20mg of HK L-137 kg-1 of feed were significantly higher than those of fish fed basal diet (P<0.05). Results indicated that supplementation of L. plantarum into diet had significantly improved growth performance of striped catfish. In addition, the result represents that fish fed feed containing 20mg of HK L-137 kg-1in diet had immune parameters is lysozyme serum higher other test feed. Research shows that adding HK L-137 to striped catfish in fingerling stage feed with a concentration of 20mg HK L-137 kg-1 in feed can increase the natural immune response in fish.
