Abstract: The study aimed to assess the effect of derris root doses on copepod and Artemia population in coexistence at different salinities under experimental condition.Experiment were carried out with a two-factorial experiment consisted of derris root dose (0.5 ppm, 1 ppm and 2 ppm) and salinity levels (40 ppt, 50 ppt, 60 ppt). Experiment has 9 treatments and each treatment had 3 replicates. Artemia and copepoda was cultured at the density of 120 ind and 100 ind per liter in the same plastic bottle in 7 days to get data on the survival and growth of both species. They were fed with Chaetoceros daily at 400,000 cells/ml. The result at day 7thof culturing showed that two factors (salinity and rotenone) affected on survival of Artemia population. The survival of Artemia was lowest in the combine-culture at 40 ‰ and 0.5ppm rotenone dose despite of copepod densities, but at salinity of 60 ‰ 0.5ppm rotenone dose, the highest survival of Artemia was obtained in the culture Artemia. Although Copepoda survival rate were no significant difference (P>0.05) among treatments, Copepoda population was decreased over 50% compare with initial density.
