Today, eight of the fourteen UN peacekeeping operations are deployed in the French-speaking area (OIF, 2019). Peacekeeping therefore became a major issue for French-speaking countries. In recent years, new French-language dynamics have emerged in the field of peacekeeping. La Francophonie does not only focus on pleading with States for greater French-speaking participation in peace operations, but is also involved in building the capacity of French-speaking personnel deployed to meet nevv eacekeeping challenges, including their ability to use French (OIF, 2019).vi_VN
