Abstract: In this research, gypsum (calcium sufate) was surface modified by ethylene bis stearamide (EBS) before dispersing into PLA in melting State at various contents to obtain PLA/gypsum composites. The FTIR analysis revealed the presence of EBS on gypsum. The mechanical properties of the composite, such as tensile strength, impact strength, flexural strength..., showed thai composite using EBS treated gypsum owns mechanical properties higher than composite using untreated gypsum. In thermal analysis, the maximum decomposition temperature of composite using EBS treated gypsum was higher than that of neat PLA and composite using untreated gypsum. SEM images on fracture surface of the composites also showed the difference between these samples.
