Abstract

Along with the economic development, big cities in Vietnam, especially Ho Chi Minh City, are witnessing a wave of young people from all over of the country, pouring in to live and settle down. The consequence is that housing demand for this kind of clients spikes. According to statistics in 2016, the population of HCMC is nearly 13 million, with 6.7 million in urban areas, of which 30% are young workers and 60% Young people (from 25 to 32years old) are single or newly married (Market Research Report of NHAT VIET ỊSC).However, the current urban housing funds almost all focus on low-income families or young families, with closed apartments design (1-2 bedrooms) and low-priced housing. Meanwhile, the demand for housing for young people, mostly start-ups, is not high-priced but affordable, near the workplace (city center), comfortable enough, and may enhance the connection between individuals.Based on these observations, the paper will focus on the study of new housing spaces in accordance with the needs of young people living in the central districts of HCMC. Then, illustrate this trend with some real works in the world and in HCMC.
