dc.description.abstract | Thirty species of medicinal herbs collected in Thus Thien Hue and Quang Tri provinces were screened for acetylcholinesterase-inhibitory activity by the Ellman’s method. Of the 30 studied species, the methanol extracts from the following 6 plants showed significant inhibitory activity on acetylcholinesterase: (1) Zephyranthes grandiflora Lindt., (2) Zephyranthes ajax Hort., (3) Hippeastrum equestre Herb., (4) Hippeastrum reticulatum Herb. var. striatifo Herb., (5) Catharanthus roseus L. and (6) Huperzia phlegmaria (L.) Rothm with IC50 values ranged at 5.70 to 99.08 pg/mf Of these, the Zephyranthes ajax Hort. displayed the strongest activity. Further, active fractions were individually identified for each of these 6 plants. As a result, the chloroform fractions of the rhizomes of Zephyranthes ajax Hort. showed the most powerful, with iC50 value of 15.91 pg/ml. | vi_VN |
