An HPLC method was developed for simultaneous determination of the two antibacterial, anticancer, antiviral bioactives, curdion and germacron in the extracts from Curcuma aromatica Salisb. (CE). The procedure was optimized as: Column - Perfecsil 100 ODS-3 (250 mm x 4.6 mm; 5 pm), column temperature - 30°C; Detector - UV (214 nm); Flowrate -1 ml/min; Mobile phase - a mixtures of acetonitrile and water with a gradient program; the ratios of acetonitrile - 42%. 55% and 49% at 0-15 min, 18-23 min and 30-52 min. The specificity and suitability were found to well meet the requirements. The good correlations between peak areas and concentrations were y = 14951x (R² = 1) and y = 67589x (R² = 0.9997) for curdion and germacron, respectively. The %RSD values of inter-day precision were 1.09% for curdion and 0.91% for germacron. The recovery percentages were 99.88 - 101.40% and 98.40 - 101.05%, respectively. This proposed HPLC method for simultaneous determination of curdion and germacron from CE proved meeting the requirements of validation and helpful for establishing the quality standard of CE and its related products.vi_VN
