Abstract

A new series of compounds of 2H-benzo[b][1,4]oxazin-3(4H)-one incorporating N'hydroxybenzylidene)-2-acetohydrazide frame were synthesized by a 4-step pathway of weil-known chemical reactions. For preliminary cytotoxicity screening, seven synthsized compounds (5a-5g; were tested for their inhibitory effects on the growth of the following three human cancer cell lines: SW620, colon cancer; PC-3, prostate cancer: NCI-H23, lung cancer. Thereby 5/7 synthesized compounds (5a, 5c, 5d, 5e. 5g) showed significant inhibitivity on the cancer cell growth. Of these, the two most cytotoxic compounds (5a and 5c; displayed the potency 3- up to 10-fold higher than that of PA C-1 and 5-FU in three tested cancer cell lines.
