Abstract

Danshen dripping pills were formulated from the dry extracts of Salvia miltiorhiza Bunge and Panax notoginseng Burk, with PEG 6000 as carrier. The preparation was optimized as follows: Ratio of dry extract : PEG 6000 : bomeol- 1.0: 3.0 : 0.1; temperature of the melting mixture - 70-75°C; dropping rate -20 ±3 drops.min1; temperature of condensate parafin oil -(-5°C) - 0°C, condensation column length - 40 cm, dropping distance - 13 cm. The obtained dripping pills showed spherical shape with smooth surface, diameter of 3.69 mm, the roundness of 1.03, the disintegration time of 13-15 mins, the pill mean weight of 27.9 mg contaning 0.105 mg of danshensu. The obtained dripping pills proved to be new effective approach for pharmaceutical application.
