The methanol extracts from the leaves and stems of Angelica acutiloba (Sieb. etZucc.) were investigated for antifungal activity against various pathogenic molds to medicinal plants. The n-hexane fractions showed a significant antifungal effect against Sclerotium rolfsii. Further, subjected to bioassay-guided isolation the fractions yielded three compounds: Z-ligustilide (1), stigmasterol (2) and cassipourol (3). Of these three compounds, ligustilide (1) was found strongly active against S. rolfsii, as a causal agent of stem rot on Atractyloides macrocephala, at the concentrations of 1 mg/mL and 0.5 mg/mL. Diterpene cassipourol (3) was isolated for the first time from A. acutiloba. These findings suggested an application of the aerial parts of A. acutiloba as a bio fungicide to control plant diseases of medicinal plants.vi_VN
