Abstract: A reversed-phase HPLC coupled with PDA detector method was developed for simultaneous determination of propylparaben, butylparaben and triclosan in commercial cosmetic products. The chromatography was performed by a Hitachi L-2000 HPLC system, with: Column - Phenomenex Gemini RP-C18 (150 x 4.6 mm; 5 pm); Mobile phase - Acetonitrile and water (in gradient mode); Flow rate - 1 mL/min; Detection UV (280 nm.). The method was validated by AOAC guideline to meet all the conventional requirements: system compatibility, selectivity, linearity range (R² > 0,995), accuracy (recovery rate - 91 - 95 %) and precision (RSD < 2%), and high sensitivity (LOD: 0.034 - 0.04 ppm, LOQ: 0.11 - 0.13 ppm). To test for practical application, PrPB, BuPB and TCS in 20 cosmetic products, including suncream, acne treatment, burnt, freckles, skin whitening and regeneration collected in CanTho city. Of these samples, two exceeded the criteria and 15 products contained preservative ingredients other than those declared in the manufacturer’s trade labels.
