dc.description.abstractTo find a simple, effective way to synthesize amantadine and amantadine hydrochloride (1-aminoadamantane hydrochloride) for medicinal use as an antiviral in treatment of certain influenza infections (type A, for example), an antidyskinetic agent to treat Parkinson’s disease, as well, amantadine hydrochloride was synthesized from adamantane, nitric acid and acetonitrile via N-(1-adamantyl)-acetamide in two steps. The structure of the obtained amantadine hydrochloride was confirmed by IR, MS, ¹H-NMR, ¹³C-NMR.vi_VN
