Abstract: | Himanshu Joshi has been in the field of visual arts, media, theatre and music for more than three decades. He grew up in Delhi, but his ancestral home is in the mountainous Kumaon region, on the eastern side of the Indian stale of Uttarakhand. He completed his master's degree in communications, at the Mass Communications Research CenterJamia in Delhi in 1986, and has produced numerous current-affairs programs, documentaries, and corporate films. But his professional career has always centered on music. Since 2009, he has performed internationally as a member of the fusion rock band Indian Ocean. Joshi first studied North Indian classical music under the late Ustad Ishliyaq Husain Khan of the Rampur-Sahaswan gharana (music lineage or school), and later under Shri Madhup Mudgal at Gandharva Mahavidyalaya in Delhi. |
