In recent decades the socio-economic picture of ethnic minorities in Vietnam's highlands has undergone many important changes, of which the change in ethnic livelihood is one of the most prominent manifestations. From the perspeclive of cultural ecology andpolitical ecology, this change resulted from the government's intervention policy and other external factors, reflecting man's ability to adapt to the natural environment. Taking such an approach, based on the field data collected by the author in 2015-2017, this paper analyzes the change in the livelihood structure and its cultural consequences in Ede villages in Buôn Ma Thuột from 1975 to present. The author argues that, for the local communities, the livelihood change has brought about various cultural consequences with natural and unnatural manifestations. In other words, the livelihood change is one of the prerequisites to promoting Ede people's cultural change in Buôn Ma Thuột.vi_VN
