Sulfur oxidizing bacteria (SOB) play a significant role in the sulfur cycle, also phosphate solubilizing microorganisms in the aquatic environment. The aim of this study is to isolate the sulfur-oxidizing bacteria for phosphorus solubilization pond bottom sediment. The tricalcium phosphate-solubilizing ability of obtained inorganic phosphate-solubilizing bacteria (IPB) strains was evaluated using Pikovskaya (PVK) liquid medium in vitro conditions. Then, the ability of IPB strains to release phosphorus from the sediments was investigated in the extensive shrimp sediment pond in vivo conditions. Results showed that two potentially new Thiobacillus strains were isolated and screened for phosphate-solubilizing ability, including ST2.4 and TV5.1. These isolates are characterized as high sulfur oxidase activity, production of sulfate ion, and phosphate-solubilizing ability. Therefore, two potential strains, ST2.4 and TV5.1 could be promising as both sulfur-oxidizing and phosphate-solubilizing in further research for aquaculture uses.vi_VN
