Abstract: This paper will introduce a seat suspension model with wedge-cam mechanism. In thus model, the person and seat frame called isolated object is supported by a wedge, a roller and a spring having positive stiffness named "load supporting mechanism", meanwhile another mechanism with the negative stiffness including a spring and a semi-circular cam is used to correct the dynamic stiffness of the system. Due to the opposite of the positive and negative stiffness mechanisms, the designed system attains the low dynamic stiffness but still remains the load bearing ability. Then, the dynamic stiffness-configurative relationship is investigeted. Finally, an apparatus model is fabeicated to evaluate the isolation effctivemess of the proposed system. The experimental results show that the designed outperforms the traditional system.
