DEVELOPMENT OF SOFTWARE PROJECT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR SCRUM TEAM

Abstract

Along with the development of information technology in general and software engineering in specific, there has been new models and methodologies that allow for the production of software programs to be more efficient and quicker. There are the basic models such as waterfall and V-model that These models follow a linear process stage and lack the response with clients and stakeholders. New models offer more flexibility and feedbacks with customer to allow in-time adjustment, while maintain a balance of workload and good communication between team members. Such models are iteration development model, spiral model, and Agile group models. Among them, Scrum is most popular Agile model with each iteration (sprints) are usually 2-4 weeks long and preceded with thorough planning and previous sprint assessment, and no changes are allowed after the sprint planning and all activities in that sprint are defined. Understanding this model trend, the Software Management System for Scrum Team was created with the aim to mimic the Scrum development process and assignment management for project development by groups of students. By divide the project into sprints, and into smaller assignments that in turn can be assigned to students with the information of each is stored in database, this allowed user to be able to find and filter assignments from previous sprints for review while manage and sort current assignments to be assigned to members. The system includes 3 main factors: Product Owner (Teacher), Scrum Master (Team leader) and Developers (Members). - Product Owner: This user can view all users, projects, assignments and problems, able to create, edit and disable user, projects, assignments and problems and evaluate users after the project is complete. - Scrum Master: This user can view current project, sprints, assignments and problems, able to create, edit, disable and review sprints, while edit assignments and problems. - Developers: This user can view current project, sprints, assignments and problems, able to change assigned assignment or problem state. The system is built on React and ASP .NET Core platform and managed by SQL Server database management system. The application frontend will be built using React with ASP .NET Core for the backend and using axios for api calls in between.
