Abstract: Recently, with many new situations of the SARS-CoV-2 virus strain, the epidemic situation is developing very complicatedly. Because COVID-19 mainly spreads among people who have been in close contact for a long time, to minimize the possibility of spreading the disease, the Ministry of Health recommends that people should practice social distancing associations, also known as “create distance”. This means maintaining a safe distance between two or more people. Currently, with the desire to apply science and technology to detect safe distances through surveillance camera systems, there have been many studies and scientific and technical solutions offered in the world in general and in Vietnam, in particular. The topic "Research and design of a social distance detection system using OpenCV and Raspberry Pi" was launched with the goal of researching and building a social distance detection system with the following functions: Monitor and monitor live through the camera, save the video when detecting people standing close to each other, review the saved video when detecting people standing close to each other.
