Abstract: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of dietary supplementing of heat-killed Lactobacillus plantarum L-137 (HK L-137) and propionic acid calcium (PA) on the immune responses, and stress resistance of striped catfish (Pangasionodon hypophthalmus) juvenile (3-5g) for 60 days. After 60 days of culture, blood samples were collected to analysis the white blood cell and red blood cell counts, and serum biochemical parameters. After that, the fish were used to do the stress experiment. The results of this study showed that the fish fed HK L-137 (2, 4 ppm) supplementation had the highest superior stress tolerance. Regarding to immunity, the immunological parameters in the treatments supplemented with HK L-137 and PA single or in combination showed significantly higher immunity compared to the control treatment. In addition, fish supplemented of HK L-137 and PA single or in combination has been shown to be immune effective (serum biochemical parameters, white blood cell, and red blood cell). Therefore,it is necessary to supply HK L-137 or PA for the purpose of improving striped catfish immunity without the need to add a combination of both factors. It can be concluded that, to improve the survival rate and reduce the stress level of striped catfish juvenile during transportation, feeding the fish with HK L-137 (2 ppm) supplementation is necessary.
