AN INVESTIGATION INTO CTU ENGLISH MAJORED STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION AND CHALLENGES IN CONDUCTING RESEARCH

Abstract

This study aims to investigate CTU English majored students’ perceptions and challenges in conducting research. There are 113 participants, who are all English majored students and 7 students volunteered to participate interview in the study. The mixed- method is used in this thesis. There is a questionnaire with 28 items for collecting quantitative data and interviews for collecting qualitative data. The results show that English majored students have to deal with some difficulties in framing a research problem, planning a research study, and conducting research. Besides that, this study also finds that students also have some motivations to do their studies and can get some beneficial effects throughout the research process.
