Abstract: | This survey aims to explore the realistic sources of academic stress among third-year students of Can Tho University (CTU) who majored in English Language Teaching. Accordingly, there would be suggestion to teachers, educators and undergraduates about how to cope with academic stressors. The participants in the research are 52 juniors (First Degree) majoring in English Language Teaching at Can Tho University. An adapted questionnaire from Dema (2015) is slightly revised and utilized as research instrument based on the similarity of research questions between the two surveys and difference of culture. The collected data was carefully analyzed to answer the two questions: (1) What is the main source of academic stress among relationship, personal, academic and environmental factor? (2) What coping strategies do students utilize to manage stress? The major outcome of this research was a success of the author as it satisfied one of the four hypotheses as well as the first research question – the academic factor, and the answer of the second research question was highlighted with the most frequent activity that students apply to deal with pressure – listening to music . Additionally, the other findings are in need of consideration since they indicate similar statistics to Dema’s, which might be a good source for educators to renovate their training strategies. |
