Abstract: | The thesis applies a qualitative method to consider and analyze the visual beauty of the character Meggie. The findings from this thesis indicate that the specific literary device is metaphor and simile. Through this thesis, the aspects of Meggie's appearance, soul, love, and tragedy in love in “The Thorn Birds” are associated with the song of a legendary bird. And the two literary devices of the novel will be examined to find the beauty in appearance and soul, Meggie's love as well as nature and people in the work. After all, perhaps the most beautiful is the love of Justine and Rain. Justine is happy to be her mother – Meggie is happy too. This happy ending makes me feel, even if the bird Meggie crashes her head into the thorns, even if it hurts, and even if it costs a lot, it's worth it because she wants to be happy! She was happy, happy for Justine. Therefore, analyze the characteristics of the character Meggie - the main character in the novel, who perseveres in the face of all tragedies and through two literary devices metaphor and simile. It can be said that this is one of the best ways to realize the visual beauty of Meggie's character, the beauty of the whole novel, and more than that, the pain of love is so tormenting that people have to say it's “Great Pain”. From this, it is concluded that Meggie is a beautiful but determined, strong rose, she has a loving heart, is faithful in love, and has also suffered many tragedies. Meggie loves with all her heart and also aspires to be loved, no matter how hard she tries for her love, and how bravely she fights against fate, in the end, she is still not a winner, not happy. complete happiness. Maybe the person she loves pushed her into tragedy, or maybe even she accepted to endure the tragedy. The implications and recommendations are provided. |
