Abstract: | The current study aims to investigate Vietnamese EFL learners’ perceptions of factors influencing their learner autonomy (LA) in learning English as a Foreign Language (EFL). This quantitative study employed a questionnaire as the sole instrument for data collection with the voluntary participation of 117 English-majored undergraduates at a university in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam. The results showed that students generally showed a strong agreement on the idea that their LA is influenced by a certain number of factors related to voluntariness, learner choice and flexibility in changing study options, peer support, willingness, and capacity. The results of this study can hopefully elucidate influential elements to LA and offer multidimensional insights and ideas in developing LA. Also, possible reccomendations for potential further research directions pertaining to the field of LA are also addressed. |
