Abstract: The article introduces the experimental research results of fabricating a three-layer composite material of friction copper alloy - steel - friction copper alloy by powder metallurgy method, applied as a plasma welding blank of friction disk in the clutch transmission of large power engine and heavy transport vehicles. The characteristic properties of the composite material are investigated according to criteria such as: porosity, density, microstructure of the material at the interface between the friction copper alloy layer and the steel substrate layer, investigated according to the cross section of the sample.
