Abstract: Numerical simulations are performed to investigate transient temperature and pressure distributions of a helical heat exchanger. The ANSYSFLUENT software is used to perform simulation in this study. The results show the change of temperature and pressure distribution for initial time and then it is invariable since approaching the steady state condition. The influences of mass flow rate of hot and cold side are evaluated as increasing the mass flow rate the heat transfer is also increase. The heat transfer process varies by the time occurs inside the helical heat exchanger model between hot and cold fluids flow are also presented. Moreover, the comparison between simulation and mathematic model results published gets good agreements for heat transfer rate and pressure drop of this model since the model reaches to the steady state condition.
