Abstract: Staphylococcus aureus is a common pathogen with the ability to cause a wide range of infections and the treatment is further complicated by the rise of multi-drug resistance among staphylococci. It has been shown that SOS response and biofilm formation contribute significantly lo the antibiotic resistance development. Previous studies highlighted the effect of Zn²⁺ on these two processes, however, whether this effect is antagonistic or agonistic is still controversial.
