Abstract: A study on the fishes composition and growth biology of Polynemus paradiseus was done from May to November 2020 along Cai Lon River. The fishes composition and Polynemus paradiseus samples were collected mainly by indigenous fisherman. The samples were collected one time a month. Results showed that were a total of 54 species belonging to 28 families of 9 orders recorded. In which, Perciformes was the most diverse order with 27 species (50% of total), followed by Siluriformes with 11 species (20.4% of total), Cypriniformes with 6 species (11.1%), the other orders comprise one to three species (1.9 – 5.6% of the total species). By non-linear regression method determined the closed relationship between length (L) and weight (W) of through the equation of the correlation length (L) and weight (W) some species have economic value: Polynemus paradiseus which is W = 0.0052L3.0903, R2=0.985. The growth parameters were determined by the ELEFAN method that is apply for Non seasonal growth curves. The asymptomic length ∞=29.85 cm, growth coefficency =0.99/year, and 0 =-0.29. The growth performance index was estimated as 2.95. In general, the fishes composition in Cai Lon River were diverse, growth biology of Polynemus paradiseus were naturally developed. There needed more study about fishes composition in others months. Besides, study more growth biology of Polynemus paradiseus in long time to have information that will be useful for deriving future sustainable management and conservation strategies.
