Tóm tắt: This study was conducted to find out the suitable stocking density of white leg shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) postlarvae (PL) for growth, survival and production integrated with different amounts of red seaweed (Gracilaria sp.) in the nursery phase. The two-factor experiment was set up consisting of 12 treatments namely 3 shrimp densities: 1,000; 2,000 and 3,000 PL/m3 combined with 4 red seaweed densities: 0, 1, 1.5 and 2 kg/m3, and randomly designed with 3 replicates. Shrimp PL12 with mean initial weight and length of 0.0043 g and 1.07 cm were stocked in the 150-L tanks at salinity of 15 ppt for 30 days. A two-factor ANOVA test was used to detect significant interactions between shrimp density and seaweed density. For all treatments, results were analyzed with one-way ANOVA to find out the overall effect of the treatment using Duncan test (p<0.05). Results revealed that the significant interaction effect (p<0.01) between shrimp and seaweed density only observed for the shrimp production. The integration of shrimp PL and red seaweed significantly (p<0.05) improved water quality in terms of nitrogen and phosphorus compounds, as well as shrimp growth, survival and production, in which the density of 1kg/m3 red seaweed was considered to be the most suitable. Growth and production of shrimp is density dependent, higher stocking densities lower growth performances but enhanced shrimp production. Mean final weight and length of shrimps were in the ranges of 0.31-0.48 g and 3.45-4.00 cm, respectively, and shrimp production varied from 792 to 2,719 ind./m3. In terms of shrimp size, stocking densities of 1,000 and 2,000 PL/m3 could give better efficiency. In terms of shrimp production, stocking density of 3,000 PL/m3 could obtain the highest production per unit culture volume in the integrated system of shrimp-red seaweed.
