Abstract: The main purposes of this paper were to review the job satisfaction models among universities’ lecturers in developing countries and to identify factors that may have effect on job satisfaction of lecturers at universities in Viet Nam. The factors of job satisfaction can be divided into two groups: intrinsic factors, which directly related to personal characteristics and extrinsic factors, which are environmental conditions at work. Based on the previous studies and theories in this field, the author suggested a model which includes 8 factors affecting job satisfaction of the lecturers in Vietnam. They are Promotion; Salary; Supervision; Colleagues; Work itself; Working condition; Fringe benefits; Professional development. The paper also proposed to find out the relationship between job satis-faction and commitment beside carrying out the test of relationship between demographic factors on job satisfac-tion. The results of the paper hopetully add a theoretical basis for the impact of factors on job satisfaction of uni-versities’ lecturers in developing countries in general and in Vietnam in particular.
