Rural community- based tourism development and livelihood change in North Central Coastal Vietnam

Abstract

Vietnam North Central has launched the green growth strategies and its economic restructuring that aim to develop tourism as a beneticial approach for poverty reduction in rural areas. This paper has analyzed the transitions and the adaptation process that local residents have engaged in community- based rural tourism activities by adopting the analysis of secondary data on the income change and economic structure in this region from the source of Vietnam General Statistics Office. Findings suggested that developing rural tourism is a new livelihood involved and some strategies to help rural residents better adapt to rural tourism are discussed.
