On February 3, 1950, Romania recognized Vietnam's independence and officially established diplomatic relations with Vietnam. Since that time, the Party and people of the two countries have always tried to develop bilateral diplomatic relations. During the war against the US invasion, Romania always stood by Vietnam, helping Vietnam in both material and spiritual terms as well as on international forums, which contributed to the reinforcement of the relationship between the two countries in the face of historic upheavals.
