dc.description.abstractTraditional medicine (TM) still plavs an important role in health care System in Vietnam. TM is based largely on folk herbal knowledge and its main problem is the biological validation with modern approaches. “Dai trang hoan Ba giang” (DTBG) is an herbal medicament, used to treat colitis. DTBG composed of 13 traditional medicinal plants, one of them is Amomum fruit (local name Sa nhan, Chinese name Sharen), “Sa nhan” has been identified as the dry ripe fruits of three Amomum species (A.villosum Lour., A. villosum Lour. var. xanthioides T.L. Wu et Senjen or A. longiligulare T.L. Wu.).[l] A. villosum Lour is mainly distributed in Vietnam, Myanmar, Thailand and Indonesia.vi_VN
