Abstract: This study was carried out to find out how Vietnamese university students understood individualism and what they thought about how it impacted social behavior in Western nations. The survey's subjects were constrained and concretized due to a lack of time and the scarcity of personnel. Students from Can Tho University were chosen as the subjects for this survey. There is no requirement for the course or faculty/school they are attending to participate in this survey. Students were given a questionnaire that was created and distributed using an online form or QR code scanning. A total of 265 reliable replies were received over the 2-week data collection period. The SPSS 20.0 program is used to run and evaluate the collected data and assess for consistency, reliability, and frequency. The vast majority of students who responded to the poll generally acknowledged understanding individualism. The findings from data gathering and analysis reveal that students at Can Tho University have a basic comprehension of the concept of individualism and can distinguish between it and egotism. The key differences between individualism and collectivism are also noted by the students. They also shared their thoughts on theories concerning the impact of individualism on social behavior. Findings show that students have perspectives regarding the influence of individuality on social behavior that are both positive and negative. They acknowledge that individualism influences and aids people in being more diligent and responsible, but they also emphasize that individualism may occasionally create isolation between members of society. Implications and suggestions for further studies related to this topic are also discussed.
