Abstract: In the past 10 years, the processing and manufacturing industry (PMI) has always been affirmed as the industry that has the largest contribution to export turnover and FDI attraction, and has the largest contribution to the growth rate of the whole economy. However, the production is still mainly processing, using low and medium technology, is greatly dependent on imports, etc. making the value added to the whole low PMI, and has not yet contributed significantly to improving the quality and sustainability of Vietnam's economic growth (EG). By using Input-Output Table (I-O) method and qualitative methods, this article will focus on analyzing the status of contributions of PMI to Vietnam’sEG in recent years, thus, it will make some conclusions and recommendations promote the development of PMI along with promote and improve the quality of Vietnam's EG in the next period.
